Education as a "Weapon" in Pakistan

Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times chronicles a private program promoting education in Pakistan. Particularly eye-opening are the shoddy public schools and the stories of girls seen as threats because of their education. Also, people testify that the Taliban is less likely to infiltrate a village if the populace is educated.

Books Not Bombs

While the U.S. government is fighting Islamic extremism in Pakistan with bombs, private donations are quietly financing a more important campaign: education.

i think the the education problem is not just pakistan, but the rest of the world. chris, i agree with this video. this is eye opening in the sense that education is what the WORLD needs more of. too many children, and even adults, are deprived of this necessity and it absolutely needs to be addressed. even right here in america, education is taken advantage of. there are too many americans who either can't afford a quality education or too lazy to want to learn. there should be a better motivation and a way to provide QUALITY, affordable education to everyone. i could go on and on with this, the system, financing, how i feel about teachers who suck and have tenure, classroom influence, etc. but that's a whole other thing. haha.

Redheads not warheads, blondes not bombs, we're talking bout brunette's not fighter jets! If every soldier in the world put down his weapon and picked up a woman, what a peaceful world this world would be.
